A Song of Hope and Joy

This prayer celebrates the wonders of creation, and God's loving, eternal Presence in our lives and our world.

Surrounded by Grace

Each sunrise is a new beginning,
given to us with faithful regularity,
that our souls may stretch forth
toward Your radiant and enlivening love;

Revealed All Around Us

Inspired by Psalm 145

God bless You, God for all You are,
and all that You have done;
redwoodsfor windswept beaches,
rainy days,
redwood trees,
and little yellow birds.

For humming bees,
honking geese,
and the cricket in the hedge.

When life gets complicated
and we’re not sure where to turn,
what to think,
or what to do,
we need only turn our eyes to You.

For here in our midst
You have spoken:
revealing a kingdom
of abundant grace,
great beauty,
and ever-renewing hope.

We can never give You praise enough
for the wonders of our earth;
the words of love and encouragement
you send us every day.

The transformed caterpillar
flutters among the flowers,
a golden apple arises
where white blossoms have fallen.

The river runs toward the sea,
irresistibly drawn
to its end and its beginning;
when, cloud-borne,
the dance will start anew.

Each sunrise is a new beginning,
given to us with faithful regularity,
that our souls may stretch forth
toward Your radiant and enlivening love;

night skyeach night is a holy reminder
that the darkness is not dark —
but filled with a thousand distant suns
whose light we see but dimly.

Here You are, my God,
right where You’ve always been.

You are the One
Who never departs,
Who will never forsake us.

You are the One
Who is with us always,
Who loves us eternally.

You are the One
Who does all this
simply because that’s Who You Are.

God bless You, God for all You are,
and all that You have done.
Amen.
