For a New Beginning

This prayer recalls God's generosity and mercy, and our many failings. With a hopeful heart, the psalmist imagines that God's kingdom can be established in our world.

We Know the Way

Redemption has been handed to us:
those who live in the Light
of the Lord’s teachings
can bring His kingdom to earth.

~ Psalm 83 ~

What Might Yet Be

Psalm 83 as interpreted by Deborah

Gracious God, you gave us a beautiful place to live;
a land of milk and honey — abundant in all good things.

You were generous to us far beyond what we deserved,
and gave us every opportunity to do what was right.

Though set in the midst of plenty,
we sought still more;
hurting our friends and feeding our enemies.

We were seduced by greed and selfishness;
lured by what seemed to be “easy pickings,”
we stumbled and fell away from You.

Times beyond counting You have been merciful;
sending us prophets to warn us,
and to guide us to safety.

Give me ears to hear the Beloved’s words,
words that guide and encourage those who are faithful;
those who turn their hearts toward God.

Redemption has been handed to us:
those who live in the Light of the Lord’s teachings
can bring His kingdom to earth.

Then kindness and generosity will take root in every heart,
justice and mercy will illuminate all the world.

dandelions

Faithfulness will spring up like dandelions,
and goodness will warm the earth.

God will send forth blessings,
enriching the work we have begun;
grace and goodness will be abundant.

Compassion and love shall lead us,
peace and joy will pave the way for Heaven’s Reign.

Let’s begin our work — today!
