Rejoicing in the Night

We have no cause to be afraid of the dark.

Seeing in the Dark

Sometimes we see most clearly at night, when we are free from daylight distractions.

A Psalm of the Night by Deborah Beach Giordano

Even the darkest night
            is not dark at all,
            but filled
            with light:
            a thousand
            thousand
            thousand
            thousand
            sparks; each a magnificent
            creation, a unique
            revelation, each singing
            its gentle song;
            a skyful of hymns, within
            we each will find
            echoing our own
            heartbeat.

Not darkness: respite
            from the glaring,
            pitiless illumination
            of sun-saturated day;
            soft, cool, stillness,
            descending
            silent-winged,
            vibrant with potential,
            proclaiming peace.

Peace.
            Peace I bring to you.

Radiant majesty
            too beautiful to
            behold with mortal eyes;
            beyond all telling,
            beyond our seeing,
            All
            embracing us
            tenderly
            disclosing
            there is
            no cause for fear.

Do not be afraid.

Even the darkness
            is not dark
                        for You are there.
